Project Story
Project Brief
Willmott Dixon Interiors (WDI) was appointed to carry out the Cat A refurbishment and fit-out of the landmark commercial office building, Riverside House. The high-profile building is located adjacent to Southwark Bridge and fronts onto the River Thames.
Project Solution
The project was phased to enable the building to remain live and occupied throughout the works. This included the ground floor restaurant occupants (Zizzi, EAT and The Real Greek), and office tenant Ofcom who occupy part of the ground floor and floors 1-4.
The project scope included the part remodelling of lower ground to include new cycle storage, showers, toilets and changing facilities; remodelling of mezzanine floor to form the new double-height reception and waiting area; part remodelling of the ground floor to form the new entrance, reception, waiting area, lobby, bridge link and associated facade works; and infilling the atrium from levels 5 to 8.
The building was extended to include new curtain walling on levels 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, new terrace balconies on levels 8, 9 and 10, a Cat A fit-out on floors 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, communal areas and 4no staircases, a Cat B fit out to 2no receptions and co-working lounge and the creation of a green wall on the 8th floor terrace. These works created an additional c10, 000sft of floor space for the landlord.
We worked closely with the customer team to keep the building open and in fully operation via sectional completions and to ensure that we always had a fully operational and compliant DDA reception for Ofcom to use through the works.
